March 2026

On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Carl Porto. Sr. was honored by the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) as the 2026 recipient of the John Eldred Shields Distinguished Professional Services Award at this year’s Celebrate with the Stars event.

The annual Shields Award recognizes and honors one member of the Connecticut Bar Association “…who has performed throughout his career outstanding service through or on behalf of the Connecticut Bar Association, for the benefit of the legal community and the community at large”. To be chosen for this lifetime achievement, the recipient must have demonstrated leadership, a commitment and record of service to the CBA and to the public at large.

Carl’s service on numerous state, local and federal bar committees and task forces, his appointment to the Connecticut Judicial Review Council and his service as chair of the CBA Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee for over two decades demonstrates his long standing commitment to the CBA and the legal profession.  As a member and president of many state and local community organizations, Carl has demonstrated the same commitment to the Town of Hamden, the greater New Haven community and the State of Connecticut.

We at Parrett Porto understand our responsibilities as attorneys to the legal profession and the public at large. We applaud Carl’s record of service and achievement to the Connecticut bar and the greater New Haven community throughout his long, distinguished and continuing career.
